Comber starred in Locost Photo: Michael Barrett |
After karting Comber thought about many championships including Stock Hatch which he did buy and had a go in but Comber decided to buy a Locost in the middle of 2011. "After collecting the car I entered my first race at my home track Mallory Park. I managed to place the car straight on pole position in damp conditions. I continued developing the car for the rest of the 2011 season preparing myself for a strong season in 2012."
Comber who raced with Procomp Motorsport in 2012 started off with a victory at the first meeting a Silverstone. "The year was started off with a win in the second race of the opening round at Silverstone which was the start of many to come." Comber went on to win seven races throughout the season despite having a poor weekend at Brands Hatch in the web, where he still managed to score a podium and a retirement at Donington Park after contact with Lee Bankhurst. Comber scored eleven podiums in a thirteen race series. "I finished a great and record breaking season with a win at snetterton to win the 750 Motor Club Locost title. This was a fantastic result for myself as it was my first full season in car racing and first full season in motorsport since 2007."
Comber will now be moving into the more powerful Mazda MX5 Mk3 car running in the Ma5da MX5 Cup. "I'm now taking the confidence I have built up over the 2012 season into the Mazda MX5 Cup for 2013. The Ma5da Racing Championship interested me due to the high level of drivers that race and have raced in the championship and also the chance to impress future sponsors with full Motors TV coverage on the championship."
