After a fruitful 2012 season for APS Racing, with a number of wins and class podiums, 2013 was looking to be a brilliant year for the Hertfordshire based squad, with father and son duo Michael and Andrew Sheraton taking to the wheel of the BMW E30 325I Sport. The first round at Oulton park began in dramatic fashion, with Michael leading a Class D race packed with quality up until the very last lap, before getting on to the grass and hitting the barrier at the shell oils hairpin, ending his race. Michael spoke saying "It was a fantastic race and Len (Leonard Oliver in a BMW E30 325I) gave me no more than a few meters break throughout the race, forcing me to push harder and harder on tyres that were nearing their limit, thus leading to an inevitable mistake going into the hairpin, with a touch of under steer forcing the car onto the grass and turning me into the barrier. It was a pure driver error and the damage was disappointing, but the pace of the car was encouraging for the next race at Rockingham".
The most recent meeting for the team was the second and third rounds of the championship at Rockingham, with Andrew taking the reins. It proved to be an extremely successful weekend indeed, with Andrew taking class pole position, before claiming his first ever win in the first race after shaking off pressure from Nick Haldane (BMW E30 325I) and Neil Bray (Ford Fiesta 1600). The second race followed suit, although this time in extremely wet conditions, with Andrew driving superbly to maintain a strong lead in the class, even after a scary moment on the last corner on the last lap, nearly burying the car after locking up! However he managed to escape and take the victory claiming two class wins from two and taking the lead in the class championship!
The next race for the team is at Pembrey in Wales on the 29/30 June where the competition is set to be as strong as ever with Michael taking up the challenge. "I feel the season is going extremely well at the moment and after a few changes the car is performing very well, giving me the up most confidence that we will be able to challenge for class wins at every race meeting this year, although doing so will be a hard fought task due to the level of opposition in the championship"
