Ferguson won Stock Hatch last season Photo: Michael Barrett |
Although on circuits Ferguson has only raced in his Citroen Saxo he told us "In 2008 whilst racing in the Saxmax championship I got a guest drive in a 1000cc mini at the a British Autograss event." Ferguson was also rather successful on the Autograss scene "I went on to be crowned British junior champion!"
He was also immediately successful in his Saxmax, in 2008 "I secured 4 wins and 5 podiums positions finishing 2nd in the championship!" Ferguson had a season off in 2009 before racing in Stock Hatch in front on TV cameras in 2010 "I won 3 races and 5 podiums, I was in a 3 way battle for the Stock Hatch title but due to other drivers and money I wasn't able to complete the final 2 races."
After another break in 2011, Ferguson made a large impact by winning his first race back in Stock Hatch last season. "In 2012 after having a year off I felt I was ready to take it to my fellow competitors, winning the first two races at Silverstone was a great start and have me the confidence to win the championship." Ferguson drove some impressive races, one which came at Brands Hatch where after hitting the tyre he fought back to second. Also, at Snetterton he was spun out on lap one and managed to come back into the lead group and conducted an incredible move around the outside of two cars at Corum. "It was a season full of high and lows but a title well deserved after a few years of trying!"
After winning the Stock Hatch championship, Ferguson now will be moving in the Ford Fiesta Championship. "This season I will be teaming up with young junior driver Michael Higgs in a shared car, the car is currently in build and we are hoping to have it built in a few weeks prior to the first round at rockingham." Ferguson will be driving in the 'senior' Ford Fiesta Championship while for Fiesta Junior races Michael Higgs will be getting into the car. "For me I'm hoping to pick straight back up from last season and will be going for the fiesta title too, I know I have the talent and experience to do this and can only hope we don't have any problems with the car."
